William Shakespeare is regarded as the greatest and most influential writer in the English language.  His extensive works have been translated into every major language and continue to be studied and re-interpreted.  Sometimes referred to as the "Bard of Avon" (or simply "the Bard"), and often called England's 'National Poet'.
